Sometimes, you hear the beats of a song and it totally reminds you of another song. Sometimes it’s the same flow, other times it’s about similar beats and lyrics.
There are so many of such songs but I know at least four (4) Nigerian songs that remind me of another four (4) Nigerian songs.
Though released at different times, the similarity cannot be easily dismissed.
Let’s check out the following pairs:
Santi – Freaky / Ikechukwu – Shobedobedoo
While Santi’s Freaky featuring Bridge and Nonso Amadi was released in 2018, Ikechukwu’s Shobedobedoo was released in 2008.
Did Santi’s Freaky remind you of Shobedobedoo in any way?
For me, I can’t differentiate the beats.
Flavour – Oringo / Wizboyy – Infinity
In 2017, Flavour N’abania released his fifth studio album, “Ijele – The Traveler”. One of my favourite tracks off that album remains track 12 titled Oringo.
At first, I knew I just loved the Selebobo-produced song a lot but I later realized it had a lot to do with the fact that it reminded me of another song, Wizboyy’s 2011 monster hit, Infinity featuring Slim Brown.
Am I the only one who noticed this or am I just crazy?
2Baba – Important / Myme & Jazzz – Owo
When Myme and Jazzz released a collaborative EP in 2018 titled Made In Lagos, little did they know Wizkid was planning a project with the same title.
That EP by Myme and Jazzz contained a track titled “Owo“, my favourite song off the project.
In November 2019, 2Baba released the JaySleek produced “Important” and it took me time to realize I could sing “Owo” over the same beat.
Is this too good to be a coincidence? What could have happened?
Phyno – E Sure For Me / Timaya – Hallelujah
In 2015, Timaya took us to church with Hallelujah.
About a year later, Phyno released E Sure For Me (Olisa Doo). I still can’t differentiate the beats of both songs till this day.
Which songs do you know which sound so similar?
